All of Us Are Chosen

“They say that other country over there, dim blue in the twilight, farther than the orange stars exploding over our roofs, is called peace, but who can find the way? This time we cannot cross until we carry each other. All of us refugees, all of us prophets. No more taking turns on history’s wheel, trying to collect old debts no one can pay. The sea will not open that way. This time that country is what we promise each other, our rage pressed cheek to cheek until tears flood the space between, until there are no enemies left, because this time no one will be left to drown and all of us must be chosen. This time it’s all of us or none.”

Prayer for Gaza

Mystic Saint has posted an invocation, the Hizb an-Nasr, and encourages its recitation for the people of Gaza. He says:

“Hizb an-Nasr, Orison of Divine Support is a powerful litany inspired by the illuminated heart of gnostic, master of saints, pole of his time, Shaykh Abul Hasan ash-Shadhdhuli, may Allah sanctify his Secret and connect those who love him to his station.

Shaykh A. Nooruddeen Durkee ash-Shadhdhuli, May Allah bless him and give him good health, of Shadhdhuli School, Green Mountain Branch has recommended to recite the highly meritorious Hizb an-Nasr to invoke Allah’s help, blessing and guidance for the people of Gaza and for all Palestinians. Indeed it has benefit and concealed secrets in it for those who recite it.”

If you go over to Mystic Saint at Inspirations and Creative Thoughts you can dowload the the litany. Many thanks for this, brother.

Vision of Light: Harold Hitchcock

Sun Rising Through rigging of Ships

Sun Rising Through Rigging of Ships

I have written about the work of artist Harold Hitchcock before, see here, and feeling in need of ‘a vision of light’ I visited his website today and found this inspiring work. As I am spending a lot of time reading about Gaza I immediately thought of those ships who have been sailing into the Gazan ports in recent months to bring emergency medical supplies despite the difficulties and danger involved. I also remembered all the fishermen of Gaza, who despite food shortages, are having incredible difficulties fishing along their coastline because they are being harassed and prevented from doing so. With this painting of Sun Rising Through the Rigging of Ships, I pray for peace and justice in Gaza that its ports and waters may once again be bustling with business and filled with light.

Ilan Pappe: An Israeli Academic Writing About Zionist Ideology

It is worth reading the entire article as Ilan Pappe attempts to clarify the causes of the present situation in Israel and Gaza.

“My visit back home to the Galilee coincided with the genocidal Israeli attack on Gaza. The state, through its media and with the help of its academia, broadcasted one unanimous voice — even louder than the one heard during the criminal attack against Lebanon in the summer of 2006. Israel is engulfed once more with righteous fury that translates into destructive policies in the Gaza Strip. This appalling self-justification for the inhumanity and impunity is not just annoying, it is a subject worth dwelling on, if one wants to understand the international immunity for the massacre that rages on in Gaza.

“There are no boundaries to the hypocrisy that a righteous fury produces. The discourse of the generals and the politicians is moving erratically between self-compliments of the humanity the army displays in its “surgical” operations on the one hand, and the need to destroy Gaza for once and for all, in a humane way of course, on the other.”

Sailing to Gaza

These boats are sailing through international waters along the coast of Gaza to help the Palestinians. What they are doing is completely legal but their safety is being jeopardized by Israeli sabotage. Please read the full story at the website.

A Statement from the International Human Rights Workers Aboard the SS Free Gaza and SS Liberty, Sailing to Gaza
“The electronic systems which guarantee our safety aboard the SS Free Gaza and SS Liberty have been jammed and scrambled. Both ships are flying Greek flags, and are in international waters. We are the victims of electronic piracy. We are currently in GMS P area A2 and we are relying on our satellite communications equipment to make a distress call, if needed.
We are civilians from 17 nations and are on this project to break the siege of Gaza. We are not experienced sailors. As a result, there is concern about the health and safety of the people on board such an emergency develop.
We are currently experiencing rough sea conditions, and we call on the Greek government and the international community to meet their responsibilities and protect the civilians on board our two ships in international waters.”
